After appearing on an early batch waaayyy back in the “before times” (Cat.No.MEDS008, ca. 2018), multitalented visual and sound artist Lee Noble makes an incognito return to Muzan Editions as Kim’s Spirit.
Taking inspiration from Gail Laughton’s 1969 album “Harps of the Ancient Temples”, we have two solo studies with percussive elements recorded in bed, modular to 8-track with minimal post-production or fussing around. Equal parts solemn and playful, the in-the-moment live feel charges the air with echoes of the original’s spacious ethereal flicker.
On the flip, Osaka duo DupSys transports the listener to a lush and humid off-world paradise housed in a geodesic terrarium: you can feel the absence of any tension or menace and smell the wet air, heavy with chlorophyll and the perfume of strange flowers. Utopian gestures throughout.
